Advances in the Chemistry of the Acetals of Acid Amides and Lactams

Data on the chemistry of the acetals of acid amides and lactams published during the period between 1969 and 1974 are surveyed. The reactions of the acetals of acid amides and lactams with various nucleophiles and electrophiles are considered, particular attention being devoted to the possibility of using such amide and lactam acetals in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds which are of interest both chemically and biologically.
