Abstract:
Studies devoted to reactions of mono-olefins in the presence of alkali metals and their derivatives – mainly metallation, dimerisation, codimerisation, and isomerisation reactions – are reviewed. The catalysts, the reaction conditions, the product composition, and the problems of the reaction mechanisms are considered. It is shown that the specificity of the action of alkali metal catalysts is associated with the common features of the formation and reactions of organic derivatives of the alkali metals and that the reactions in the presence of such catalysts may serve as a basis for the development of promising procedures for the processing of mono-olefins. The bibliography includes 274 references.
