Abstract:
The results of experimental studies on the oxidation-reduction reactions of free radicals with organic donors and acceptors and transition metal compounds involving one-electron transfer are surveyed. Attention is concentrated on studies performed in recent years (up to 1976 inclusive) in which the reactions of short-lived radicals have been investigated by pulse radiolysis, stopped flow, ESR, polarographic, and flash photolysis methods. The relation between the structures and reactivities of radicals in such porcesses and the methods for the measurement of their oxidation-reduction potentials are examined. Data on the formation of complexes of radicals with metal compounds are presented. The bibliography includes 171 references.
