Abstract:
The review deals with di- and poly-nuclear metal complexes of Schiff bases whose magnetic properties are interpreted, within the framework of the exchange mechanism, as due to an exchange interaction between paramagnetic centres. The principal types of di- and poly-nuclear complexes with azomethine ligands and the factors influencing the strength and nature of the exchange interaction (the nature of the bridge groups and the stereochemistry of the coordination units) are examined. The problems of the specific selection of ligands for the synthesis of the above complexes are discussed. The bibliography includes 112 references.
