Abstract:
The results of the study of electrode potentials and processes in molten alkalis have been analysed. The influence of acid–base equilibrium on the mechanism and kinetics of the reactions which take place at indifferent electrodes in hydroxide melts between 200 and 500 °C has been demonstrated. The results of the study of the decomposition voltage and the electrochemical transformations at the cathode and anode when direct current is passed through these electrolytes have been examined.
