Abstract:
Studies on the dynamics of the potential of glass electrodes with hydrogen and metal ion functions are considered. The transient processes occurring in the concentration jump in the region of response to one cation and with partial or complete transition to response to another cation are classified. The transition phenomena are described on the basis of the thermodynamics of ion exchange and diffusion kinetics in the liquid and solid phases. The influence of ion-exchange processes in the surface layers of glasses and at the interface with the solution on the dynamics of the glass electrode potential is considered.
