Abstract:
The results of experimental studies on the kinetics of the reversible recombination of radicals in the liquid phase in relation to phenoxy-, C-centred, peroxy-, and nitroxy-radicals and radical-ions are surveyed. It is shown that steric hindrance has a decisive influence on the rate of recombination of many radicals. The influence of the solvent on the kinetics of the reversible recombination is considered and particular attention is given to the influence of the viscosity of the solvent on the kinetics of the recombination of radicals with a distinct anisotropy of their reactivity.
