Abstract: Studies on the pollution of the biosphere by lead published in recent years are discussed. Numerous sources from which lead can be introduced into the atmosphere and the hydrosphere and, the problems of the contamination of the soil, plants, algae, and animal and human organisms as a consequence of the increased absorption and accumulation of lead are considered. The problem of the chemical forms of lead in the environment, including the internal environment, is described.
