Abstract:
The results of studies of the catalytic action of the metal complexes of porphines and azaporphines in reactions involving oxidation by molecular oxygen are surveyed. Various mechanisms of the action of the metal-porphine catalysts are analysed and a relation between the characteristics of the structures of these compounds and the spectrum of their activity is demonstrated. In terms of the problem of the preparation of new catalysts for the selective oxidation of organic compounds under mild conditions, possible ways of seeking systems in which the metal-porphines function as oxygen transferring agents are outlined.
