Abstract:
The fundamental methods of synthesis of polyheteroarylenes containing phenyl substituents in the heterocycles, formed in the course of the polycyclocondensation process, are examined. The influence of the phenyl substituents on the principal characteristics of the polyheteroarylenes is analysed. The likely usefulness of the introduction of phenyl substituents into polyheteroarylenes, in the sense of increasing their solubility, thermoplasticity, and resistance to thermal oxidation, is demonstrated.
