Abstract:
A systematic account is given of the literature data on the methods of synthesis and reactivities of transition metal σ-derivatives RnM and RnMXm–n(X = halogen, OR', acac, or NR'2; R' = Me, Et, or Ph; n = valence of the metal) for transition metals in the Ti, V, and Cr subgroups. The influence of the nature of the central atom and of the character of the σ-substituents on the mode of thermal decomposition is discussed. The mechanisms of reactions involving insertion in the transition metal–carbon σ-bond are considered. The bibliography includes 124 references.
