Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow

Abstract: The results of studies of the kinetics and thermodynamics of the formation, and the structure and properties, of epoxide cross-linked polymers, carried out in the last 7–8 years in the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, have been reviewed. The molecular, topological, and supermolecular structures of epoxide polymers have been examined, and the relationship between the properties shown by these polymers in the vitreous and rubber-like states and their structure has been analysed. The progress made in the directed modification of the physicomechanical properties of epoxide binding agents have been discussed. The characteristic features of the structure and properties of epoxide polymers formed at the boundary with a solid surface have been examined.
