Abstract:
The sequence of stages involved in the combustion of polymers – ignition, flame propagation, and burn-out – has been examined. The limits of existence of the flame and the role of radiation in combustion processes have been discussed. The influence of halogen- and phosphorus-containing fire-proofing agents on the combustion processes has been analysed. The promising possibilities provided by micro-encapsulated fire-proofing agents have been demonstrated. The bibliography contains 130 references.
