Abstract: Modern methods of interpreting experimental results obtained by electrochemical optical spectroscopy (EOS) of metal surfaces are discussed. An attempt is made to unify the results so far obtained by this method by searching for correlations between experimental data and the special features of the electronic structure of the metal–electrolyte interface. The comparison is made in the framework of the semi-phenomenological theory.
