Abstract:
The results of quantum-chemical studies of the mechanism of formation of the metal–hydrogen adsorption bond and the solution of hydrogen in group VIII metals, and the results of experimental studies of the chemisorption properties of metals of the iron sub-group with respect to hydrogen, have been reviewed. The experimentally observed regular features of the change in the bond strength and the concentration of different forms of chemisorbed hydrogen agree with the results of the quantum-chemical calculations.
