Abstract:
Data on the catalysis by metalloporphyrins of reactions involving the oxidation of organic compounds by molecular oxygen, iodosobenzene, sodium hypochlorite, hydroperoxides, and peracids are surveyed and analysed. The possible mechanisms of the catalytic action of metalloporphyrins in these systems are proposed. The promising trends in the research designed to create, on the basis of metalloporphyrins, new catalytic systems for the selective oxidation of organic compounds under mild conditions are outlined.
