Chemical Reactions of β-Aminoketones

The advances in the field of the chemical reactions of β-aminoketones during the period 1970–1980 are described and arranged systematically. The question of the deamination and deaminomethylation of β-aminoketones is discussed; the possibility of alkylating various nucleophiles by β-aminoketones is demonstrated and the mechanism of the alkylation reaction is discussed. In addition, data are presented on the cyclisation, reduction, and photochemistry of β-aminoketones and the applications of the latter are described.
