Abstract:
The mechanism and conditions in the mechanodegradation of certain homochain and heterochain polymers as well as mechanochemical graft and block copolymerisation, polycondensation, and mechanochemical complex formation processes are examined. These yield a virtually complete description of the behaviour of test polymers in mechanochemical processes; the possibility of altering the structure and properties of the initial polymers in the required direction is also discussed. Attention has been concentrated on homopolymerisation and copolymerisation reactions; it is shown that the reaction mechanisms and the structures of the polymers formed possess features determined by the nature of the activating influence (mechanical energy).
