Abstract:
The experimental data and theoretical approaches concerning processes involving the diffusion of low-molecular-weight substances in polymer systems are examined. Information is presented about the influence on diffusion of the degree of crystallinity and filling, of the physical state of the diffusion media and the size of spherulites, of the composition and structure of the copolymer macromolecular chains, and of the size of the diffusing molecules. The possibility of using diffusion measurements to investigate the phase and supermolecular structures of polymers, the construction of phase diagrams, and to determine the thermodynamic parameters of the interaction of the components of polymer solutions is demonstrated.
