Abstract: The catalytic isomerisation, disproportionation, and dehydrogenation reactions of the C4–C12 , C4–C8 , and C3–C18 hydrocarbons respectively are examined. The chemical composition, the methods of preparation of the catalysts, the effect of promoting agents, and the kinetics and mechanisms of the reactions are discussed. The principal characteristics of the existing and likely future processes leading to the synthesis of C4–C12 isoparaffins and C3–C18 mono-olefins are presented.
