Abstract: The main characteristics (the kinetics and mechanism) of the radical decomposition of organic and organoelemental peroxides in the presence of active electron-donor and electron-acceptor components in alkanes and polymerising media are discussed. The decisive role of the formation of complexes of peroxides with active catalytic components and olefins in these processes is shown. The formation of triple complexes of monomer–Lewis acid–olefin plays an important part in the initiation of radical polymerisation. Examples of the practical application of the initiating systems peroxide–electron donor and peroxide–electron acceptor are given.
