Abstract: The review presents state-of-the-art data on the influence of catalysts (mainly transition metal complexes) on the regioselectivity of a number of reactions. The most important addition reactions to unsaturated bonds are considered, in particular, hydroformylation, hydrosilylation, hydroboration and hydroxy-, alkoxy- and aminocarbonylation, which give predominantly one product. Particular attention is given to reactions with divergent regioselectivity. The reaction conditions, the structures of metal complexes and the ligands involved are indicated and, in some cases, the reaction mechanism is discussed. Examples of industrial processes using homogeneous catalysis are given.
