Abstract: The principal information about the heterogeneous reactions involving ozone and other minor constituents of the atmosphere is described. The influence of the simplest heterogeneous reactions on the gas composition of the atmosphere in the middle latitudes and on tropospheric stratospheric coupling is examined on the basis of model estimates. The real situations and certain scenarios for an appreciable improvement of the gas composition of the atmosphere as a result of heterogeneous reactions are analysed. The oxidation of sulphate ions in cloud droplets is considered.
