Abstract: Literature data on the addition of electrophiles to 1,3-alkadienes and their derivatives have been reviewed. The chemo-, regio-, and stereo-selectivity of these reactions, mechanistic details, and their synthetic applications, are discussed. The bibliography contains 308 references.
