Abstract:
The present review presents the known types of compounds of dicoordinate arsenic (λ3σ2As) with the exception of compounds with a formally charged dicoordinate arsenic atom. Data on the reactivity of the λ3σ2As systems are surveyed and described systematically. It is shown that the most characteristic and the most thoroughly investigated property is addition to a multiple or diene bond involving an arsenic atom. Certain cyclic λ3σ2As derivatives are known to exhibit the properties of aromatic compounds. The ability of derivatives of dicoordinate arsenic to behave as ligands in complex formation reactions involving the As atom, the As=X bonds (X = C, As, P), or the entire π-bond system is reported. The bibliography includes 109 references.
