Abstract: A chemical substance emitted by a source is transported with an convection-diffusion process in the atmosphere. The problem is to estimate source parameters. The work is devoted to the implementation of different atmospheric pollutant source estimation methods to be used in the monitoring system of the city. The monitoring system consist of several automatic measurement devices providing point concentration measurements data. Considered approaches to the source estimation are based on variational principle with the use of adjoint equations for the convection-diffusion models with source-term uncertainty.

Keywords: Source localization, advection-diffusion equations, variational methods, adjoint problems.
