On types of degenerate elliptic operators

A general method for studying various classes of degenerate operators connected with Newton polyhedra is presented. This method extends the approach of Vishik and Grushin, permits the study of various classes of operators to be more easily reduced to a few model classes, and allows new classes to be studied.
