An almost Spechtian variety of alternative algebras over a field of characteristic 3

We prove that the variety of strict centre-by-metabelian alternative algebras with trivial commutant over an infinite field of characteristic 3 is almost Spechtian, that is, it is not finitely based, but every proper subvariety of it is finitely based.
