Maximum principle in the boundary control problem for flow of a viscous fluid

A. Yu. Chebotarev

Abstract: We consider the control problem for the evolutionary Navier–Stokes equations. The main result is the justification of necessary extremum conditions in the form of Pontryagin's maximum principle. For two-dimensional flows, the conditions mentioned are obtained without additional assumptions such as smallness or regularity of optimal flows. A particular feature is the treating of nonsmooth boundary controls.
