Prototype of multi-protocol packet switching device

The article introduces a prototype of multi-function, multi-protocol device able to perform data multiplexing, packet switching, traffic routing, and user accessing various wide-area networks. Based on an integrated communication microcontroller, the prototype features entirely original software with no borrowed components, which enables the designers to develop on its base data multiplexers, packet switches and routers. The variable hardware platform allows diverse communication interfaces while the available software supports most of the widely accepted communication protocols.
