Abstract:
Three-dimensional hydrodynamic model of the formation of sedimentary basins is considered. The model is described by quasi-stationary equations of motion of incompressible viscous liquid. The vector potential for the velocity field of medium is introduced. Galerkin's method with a special basis of three-cubic splines (i.e. functions of the form $s_{ijk}(x_1, x_2, x_3)=s_i(x_1)\cdot s_j(x_2)\cdot s_k(x_3)$, where $s_n$ are cubic splines) is used. Due to some geometric symmetries, the problem is divided into several independent problems, and parallel methods are applied for their solving. Mathematical and numerical aspects of constructing and using the symmetries are discussed.
