On the development of analytical and numerical solution methods for problems of continuum mechanics

Abstract: March 30, 2013, was the 80th birthday of the outstanding Russian specialist in mathematics and mechanics Academician Anatolii Fedorovich Sidorov (March 30, 1933 – March 31, 1999), and February 20, 2013, was the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Department of Applied Problems of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which had been headed for a long time by Sidorov. The paper is devoted to the memory of this outstanding scientist and person, his initiatives and achievements, their further development, in particular, in the activities of the Department of Applied Problems.
