On an additive problem and its application to the problem of distribution of zeros of linear combinations of Hecke $L$-functions on the critical line

Abstract: We solve an additive problem with binary quadratic forms and apply it to obtain a lower bound for the number of zeros of linear combinations of Hecke $L$-functions on a segment of the critical line.
