Abstract:
The matrix element of the current for the transition of a deuteron into free nucleons, $\langle np|j_{\mu}|d\rangle$, is derived from a representation obtained in [1], in which the contribution of the anomalous
andthe kinematic cut is separated and expressed in terms of the physical $S$-matrix.
The representation provides a unified description of both the deuteron structure and the state
of the nucleons as they move apart. The interaction in the final state is allowed for fully.
The final expression for the transition current does not contain any arbitrary subtractional
constants.
