Green's function of liquid metals

S. P. Dovgopol, A. L. Krokhin, A. A. Mirzoev

Abstract: A new method is proposed for calculating the electron Green's function of a disordered medium (liquid metal) based on the introduction of collective variables of the ion system. It is shown that a Gaussian distribution function can be introduced for them. A diagram technique yields a simple approximation for the self-energy part, this making it possible to regard the electrons in a disordered medium as quasiparticles with a complex dispersion law. An analytic expression is obtained for the momentum distribution function and also for the density of the electron states of the system. The generalization of the method and the results to binary disordered alloys is briefly considered.
