Abstract:
The energy levels of a charged particle in the field of a finite dipole go over into a continuous
spectrum in infinite groups when the dipole moment is reduced. Relations are obtained
that describe the distribution of the dipole-moment critical values at which terms
enter the continuum and also the behavior of the energy levels in their neighborhoods. These
relations, which are more accurate for terms with high numbers, show that the energy of
the bound states tends to zero exponentially as the dipole moment reaches the criticalvalues.
