Abstract:
We consider the nonspherical interaction of polyatomic molecules with rotational degrees
of freedom that belong to different point symmetrygroups. The form of the interaction
potential of molecules with different symmetry is established. The amplitude of elastic
nonspherical scattering is found as a function of the angular momentum operators. For
elastic scattering, selection rules with respect to the projection of the angular momentum
onto the symmetry axis of the molecule are found.
