Quarks with complex spin

V. I. Roginskii, I. S. Shapiro

Abstract: In an earlier paper [I], the fundamentals of the quantum kinematics were formulated for a system of two “particles” with complex spins differing by an integral or half-integer number. In the present paper, it is shown that one can construct the dynamics of such a system, i.e., one can introduce a Hilbert space of states and a Hamiltonian and take into account the identity of “particles”. A composite model is discussed in which elementary particles are regarded as consisting of two nonobservabie quarks with complex spins (the case of spin –1/2 is considered). It is shown that the mass spectrum and particle properties (for example, multipole moments and magnetic moments) in this model can differ appreciably from those in the usual composite moodel (when the quarks have integral or half-integral spin).
