On the muon-electron mass difference

The possible occurrence of a muon-electron mass difference is discussed in the framework of quantum electrodynamics containing a new universal parameter, a fundamental length $l$. A key part is played by the Bogolyubov mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking.
