Abstract:
Effect of straight-line infinite cosmic string on a system of gravitating bodies is studied. It is shown that change of the global structure of the manifold leads to characteristic kinematic effects which can be associated with the precession of the momentum vector of a probing body around the cosmic string. Various classes of finite and infinite orbits in the Schwarzschild space-time possessing conical singularities along the polar axis modelling gravitational field of infinitely thin string are analysed.
