Statistical description of a system of charged particles

E. F. Popov

Abstract: New kinetic equations for charged particles and the solenoidal electromagnetic field created by them are obtained by means of the Hamiltonian form of the equations of electrodynamics and Bogoiyubov's method. A transition to transport equations for gas-dynamic and electrodynamic variables is made. It is shown that the contribution of the “collision” integral responsible for the interaction of the particles with the solenoidal electromagnetic field in the equation for the momentum density of the particles corresponds to the density of the radiative damping force. An expression is obtained for the transverse permittivity in the case of a shifted Maxwellian distribution. A definition is given of the thermal energy (temperature) of the solenoidal field, and an equation is obtained for this quantity. Expressions are found for the new transport coefficients that characterize the electromagnetic properties of the system.
