Convergence analysis of asymptotic solutions in kinetic theory by means of a model kinetic equation possessing an exact solution

The problem of recovering the equations of hydrodynamics from the kinetic theory of gases and of their region of applicability is discussed using a model of a kinetic equation that possesses an exact solution.
