Quantum theory of strong localization of a quasiparticle in a linear molecular system

A quantum theory of strong localization is developed for a quasiparticle (exciton or excess electron) at rest in a thermalized one-dimensional molecular chain with deformation interaction, the quantum fluctuations of the molecules being taken into account.
