Abstract: We propose a variant of the theory of quasielastic $(e,2e)$ atomic reactions in the presence of a standing electromagnetic wave constructed in analogy with the stationary case. Along the way, we formulate mathematical problems that must be solved to justify this theory rigorously.

Keywords: quasielastic $(e,2e)$ reaction, alternating electromagnetic field.
