Abstract:
Proceeding from correlations between the steam quality and void fraction, it is found that lines of gas-liquid-solid triple phase contact exist on the surface of spheres at a steam quality exceeding 0.1–0.2. A model of heat transfer from spheres to two-phase liquid is suggested, in which the process of evaporation of the liquid phase on the lines of triple contact is regarded to be determining. The calculation results and available experimental data are in adequate agreement.
