Abstract: A review is presented of the results of experimental, analytical, and numerical studies of the temperature recovery factor used in engineering methods for calculating heat transfer to determine the heat flux into a wall during high-speed gas flow in the channels of power plants, engines, heat exchangers, and devices for machineless energy separation of gas flows. The effect on the temperature recovery factor of such factors as the Prandtl number of the gas, the Reynolds and Mach numbers of the oncoming flow, the shape and topography of the streamlined surface, shock waves, the degree of flow turbulence, the introduction of particles (droplets) into the flow, and the injection/suction of gas through a permeable wall are described.
