Abstract:
A VAPEX-D computer code is developed for the simulation of the process of high-temperature melt/water explosive interaction (vapor explosion). The concept of microinteractions is used for a more accurate description of thermal interaction between melt fragments and water. The VAPEX-D code is used to analyze the results of an experiment in which a vapor explosion of corium with water has been recorded. Good agreement is obtained between the experimental data and the results of calculation using the VAPEX-D code.
