Abstract:
The gasification of a porous carbon particle, which proceeds in accordance with the reaction equation $\mathrm{C}+\mathrm{CO}_2=2\mathrm{CO}$, is investigated in view of the finite rate of back reaction. The rate of gasification of a spherical particle with a varying degree of porosity is calculated in the limiting cases of small and large radius, as compared with the effective thickness of the chemical reaction zone. An expression is derived for the rate of gasification of a large particle in the mode of mixed kinetics.
