An experimental investigation of heat transfer in a highly cooled turbulent boundary layer of supersonic flow of air: Comparison with the results of various calculation methods
Abstract:
The authors obtained experimental data on convective heat transfer in a strongly cooled and developed turbulent boundary layer of a supersonic air flow (the data were obtained for a flat plate). These data are compared with a several known theories and semiempirical relationships designed for describing convective turbulent heat transfer on a flat surface. The paper shows inaccuracy of some theories and concludes that the best calculations are those that use formulae of the second approximation of the Kutateladze–Leont'ev theory and Sommer and Short semiempirical relationship.
