Flow in a channel with deflections containing a porous filler

Abstract: The coolant flow in a complex channel with flow deflections, filled with a porous metallic material, is investigated numerically. It is shown that the ratio of the channel's length to its width affects considerably the degree of nonuniformity with which the liquid washes the surface to be cooled. Recommendations concerning the characteristic geometric parameters of cooling channels are given to ensure uniformity of the coolant flow in such channels.
